LAHORE: Vice Chancellor University of the Punjab Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has said that PU set another record in academic history of Pakistan by producing more than 200 PhDs in a year.
While addressing 121st Convocation of Punjab University held at Faisal Auditorium here on Saturday, he said “it is really a tremendous achievement of the Punjab University to produce round about 200 PhDs in a year.”
During the occasion degrees, medals and prizes were distributed among PhD, M Phil, Master’s and BS Honor degree holder students.
Kamran disclosed that average spending of the world was around 4-5 percent of GDP on education but on the contrary, unluckily our rulers had cut educational budget from 2 percent to around 1.5 percent GDP of education.
He requested the government to eliminate corruption and allocate more money to education to bring country out of the crises.
PU Registrar Prof Dr Khan Raas Masood, Controller Examinations Prof Dr Liaquat Ali, Chairman Convocation Committee Prof Dr Harris Rashid, Dean Faculty of Oriental Learning Dr Mazhar Moin, heads of various departments, members of Syndicate and Senate, administrative officers and people from various walks of life participated the occasion.
