Summary More than 25,000 schools are established in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

PESHAWAR: Most of the private educational institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remained shut on Saturday to protest against regulatory authority bill, proposed by the provincial government, Dunya News reported.

Action Committee of Private Schools Association on Friday rejected the proposed law and announced a one-day strike.

The members of the committee said it was unfortunate that the provincial government had not taken the private education sector into confidence while preparing the bill.

Under the proposed bill, regulatory body will monitor all the affairs of private schools. Unregistered schools will be sealed and the body will interfere in students’ admission/rejection and teachers’ appointment.

Strongly opposing the move, school owners have termed it a ‘bureaucratic interference.’
