 AIOU out to expand network in Sindh

Summary The AIOU on Monday signed an agreement with the Sindh government for expending its infrastructure.


Under the agreement, the Sindh government will provide buildings to the Allama Iqbal Open University for running its campus at Shikarpur, Mithi (Tharparker) and Khudabad (Dadu).


It was inked by Prof. Dr. Syed Abdul Siraj, Director Regional Affairs, AIOU and a senior official of the Sindh Government Rafiq Ahmed in presence of Sindh Minister of Education and Literacy Pir Mazahar ul Haq and the vice chancellor Prof. Dr. Nazir Ahmed Sangi.


The Sindh government decided to hand over the buildings to the AIOU, keeping in view its academic potential and capacity. The Sindh Minister appreciated the interest shown by the Vice Chancellor in expanding its educational facilities in the country’s remote regions.


He hoped that the new campuses being set up at Shikarpur, Mithi and Khudabad will facilitate the students to acquaint themselves with latest socio-economic-based educational programs, being introduced by the university.


The vice chancellor assured that the campuses will be consisted of well-equipped laboratories, training workshop, examination center and video-conferencing system. He thanked the Sindh government for showing confidence in the working of the AIOU in the educational field.
