ATC rejects CTD appeal for remand of suspects in Karachi prison break

Summary The court ruled that an another remand could not be given on existing remand

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has on Staurday rejected the appeal made by Counter Terrorism Department for the remand of the 12 suspects in Karachi prison break.

It is worth mentioning here that the case also included Central Jail’s superintendent for his alleged negligence in the escape of two terrorists.

On the contrary, the court remarked that the suspects had been already been remanded into the custody of New Town police by a lower court.

The court ruled that an another remand could not be given on existing remand. 

ATC however professed that the advised the Counter Terrorism Department should appeal for remand again once the the suspects complete their current remand.

The CTD has registered a case against 12 suspects under clauses of Anti-Terrorism Act and had also arrested all the 12 suspects.
