KARACHI (Dunya News) – Unidentified armed men on Sunday shot dead DSP Traffic Police Faiz Ali Shagri near Red flats in Karachi s Gulistan-i-Jauhar area.
The men targeted the DSP while he was on his way back from duty. He was appointed in the traffic police airport section.
The DSP died on the spot while head constable was injured.
Police has found 15 shells of 9mm pistol from the crime scene.
His funeral prayers was offered today (Monday) in Garden headquarters and was attended by Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah, Director General (DG) Rangers Major General Bilal Akber, Sindh Inspector General and other higher officers.
IG Sindh has said that they are investigating the incident but it will be too early to name any group involved in the attack.
“There is surely an angle of sectarianism in the murder as the policeman of a definite sect has been targeted but it will be too early to point out any specific group,” he said.
After the passage of merely 15 minutes, DSP Gulberg Zafar Hussain was attacked by men on motorcycle in the same area however; he remained safe.
In view of the attacks, public questions that who will safeguard them if the police themselves are being targeted.
On the other hand, one person was also killed by the firing of armed men in Kaneez Fatima society. The deceased has been identified as Sajid.
BILAWAL BHUTTO CONDEMNS KILLING
Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has strongly condemned the target-killing of DSP Faiz Ali Shigri and stressed the need for elimination of terrorism-breeding from all over the country to restore peace in the country.
In a press statement issued here, the PPP Chairman said that terrorist networks appear to have woven themselves across the country and operation against them should cover all the breeding and facilitating grounds through a universal application of NAP everywhere without any discrimination.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed sympathies with the family members of martyred DSP Faiz Ali Shigri and asked the Sindh government and law enforcing agencies to ferret out the culprits involved in his killing and bring them to the book.
