Summary Former Australian leg-spinner buried the hatchet with Alastair Cook and praised his captaincy
LAHORE (Web Desk) – Shane Warne admired the former English captain Alastair Cook in his recent remarks. He said that many including him were not in favor of retaining Cook as captain in the beginning phase of his job but he proved everyone wrong.
The Aussie leg-spinner in his comic style joked that Cook is a great guy and he’s the sort of guy, “you wouldn’t mind your daughter marrying”. It must be mentioned that Warne used to be a big critique of Cook and two didn t really get along very well.
He admitted that he used to comment about the former Test captain as, ‘not fit for captaincy’ and that he should focus more on his batting after crucial home series defeat against Sri Lanka.
Cook ultimately became the second most successful Test captain in English history and earlier announced to quit captaincy. His achievements include winning Ashes twice, defeating India in away tour and being the highest run getter for England in Test matches with 11057 runs in just 140 matches.
Moreover, Warne supported the newly appointed captain Joe Root. Cook is not the only person which whom Shane Warne has had a rough patch. Who can forget that episode he had with Marlon Samuels...
