Summary Misbah says PSL will help decide whether he wants to continue playing or not within a month
LAHORE: (Daily Dunya) – Pakistan Test captain Misbah ul-Haq has on Wednesday said that he’ll decide about his retirement within one month of Pakistan Super League (PSL), which is due to be held in February.
As soon as Misbah got a signal from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the Test captain has started thinking about retirement. He is looking towards PSL to decide whether to continue playing cricket or not. He is expected to arrive at a decision by the end of PSL as he wants to gauge the level of urge in him for the game while playing for Islamabad United.
In an interview to a foreign media organisation, Misbah said that he could have easily retired after playing the Test series against England in United Arab Emirates in 2015 but it probably wouldn’t have been the right way. “Nobody looks at his personal records or game alone. Everyone has the future of the team in mind too”, he said. He said that he could have also retired after the England series when Pakistan was world No 1 but he preferred leading the side in Australia and New Zealand over looking at his personal benefit.
Misbah said that the youngsters in Pakistan team must prepare themselves for the challenges that they were about to face in the days to come. He made it clear that this was the only reason he remained with the team and he was sure that critics wouldn’t agree with him but the only reason to stick with the team was that the team was about to face some tough challenges down under.
