NEW DELHI (AFP) - England opener Alex Hales was Friday ruled out of the rest of the India tour after breaking his hand in the second one-day international in Cuttack.

Hales sustained the injury while attempting a catch in the outfield on Thursday and scans revealed that he has fractured his right hand, according to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) media release.

Hales, who disappointed with scores of nine and 14 respectively in England s two losses in the three-match series, will return home on Saturday to see a hand surgeon.

England will announce Hales  replacement for the three Twenty20 matches against India starting January 26.

India won the second ODI by 15 runs to clinch the series against the Eoin Morgan-led England side. The final ODI is scheduled in Kolkata on Sunday.
