Summary Wapda became champion for the first time, captain Salman Butt became Man of the Match
KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Wapda defeated HBL in the final of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, becoming the national champions for the first time. Captain Salman Butt was declared Man of the Match, reported Dunya News.
The first innings deficit forced the two-time champion HBL to lose the match. Habib Bank declared their second innings at 485 for 1.
Wapda chased down the target of 198 runs for the loss of 3 wickets only. Salman Butt scored 105 runs and Aamir Sajjad scored 25 runs. Both these batsmen remained undefeated.
Salman Butt scored centuries in both the innings of the match and was given Man of the Match award.
Wapda became the champion for the first time in 63-year history of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. They were helped to the victory by Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Asif and Kamran Akmal. Mohammad Asif got four wickets while Irfan bagged three.
