ISLAMABAD (APP) - Former Test leg-spinner Abdul Qadir on Wednesday questioned the wisdom of appointing Inzamam-ul-Haq as chief selector instead of making him the Pakistan team’s batting coach.

“The Pakistan Cricket Board is unable to pick the right man for the job,” Qadir said.

“One can easily see that batting coach’s job would best suited Inzy who has been one of the greatest Pakistan batsmen.”

He added, “I appeal to the PCB patron-in-chief to kindly intervene and appoint some cricketer who can run the board in a better way.

“If the matter is not sorted out properly, the future of our cricket is bleak.”

The former player said there were many top cricketers in Pakistan who could run the board in a better way than administrators.
“In my view, Majid Khan, Javed Miandad and Zaheer Abbas know cricket way better than the administrators,” he said.

Talking about the Younis Khan indiscipline episode, Qadir said the Board first allowed Younis to take part in the Pakistan Cup but when they faced criticism they barred him from taking part in the tournament.

“PCB officials are poor in making right decisions at the right time and cannot handle pressure,” he concluded.
