Summary England Women progress to semi-finals after the huge win
CHENNAI (Web Desk) - England Women team comprehensively defeated Pakistan Women s side by 68 runs in the group stage match between the both sides played at Chennai on Sunday, reported Dunya News.
English Womens team skipper Edwards won the toss and opted to bat first against Pakistani Womens team, led by Sana Mir, in the crucial group stage fixture between the two sides.
English Womens team scored 148 runs at a loss of 5 wickets in the first innings in their group stage match against Pakistan Women.
English skipper Charlotte Edwards was the top scorer for her side as she made 77 runs, scoring 10 fours. Nida Dar, Asmavia Iqbal picked 3 and 2 wickets as the Pakistani girls were hammered all over the park by the English side who were able to put a huge total on the board.
Pakistani girls were bowled out for a low total of 80 runs within 17.5 overs as no batswomen was able to stick to the crease for long. Nida Dar was the only prominent scorer for Pakistan with her 16 runs. Marsh took 3 wickets for England and went for only 12 runs. Girls in Red went on to win the match with a massive margin of 68 runs.
The winner of this all-important match will progress to the semi-final stage of the tournament.
