MOHALI (Web Desk) - Another sublime innings by Virat Kohli ensured that India defeat Australia by 6 wickets in a crucial encounter between the two sides, resulting in India advancing into the semi-finals of the ICC World T20 2016, reported Dunya News.
Australian skipper Steven Smith after winning the toss, decided to bat first against India, led by MS Dhoni, in an all-important encounter of the two sides played at Mohali.
Australia scored 160 runs while losing 6 wickets in the first innings of their group stage match against India.
Finch, with his 43 runs, was the top scorer for Australia whereas Pandya picked 2 wickets for India.
Aussie bowlers bowled well in the early part of the second innings as they were able to exert some pressure on the Indian batters and were able to pick 4 wickets. However, Virat Kohli, once again, took the charge for the Indian side and played a comprehensive innings of 82 runs along with skipper Dhoni who remained at 18 not out as both guided the side to a 6-wicket victory against the Aussies. Shane Watson picked up two wicket for Australia.
After this victory, India have qualified for the semi-finals of the tournament.
New Zealand, from the same group, already qualified for the semi-finals after winning all their matches.
