Blunders from Pak see B'desh win by 5 wickets; exit from tournament

DHAKA (Web Desk) - Shahid Afridi, the Pakistani skipper, won the toss and opted to bat first against Bangladesh, led by Mashrafe Mortaza, in the eighth match of the Asia Cup 2016 being played on Wednesday in Dhaka, reported Dunya News.

Pakistan made one change in their playing eleven as Anwar Ali was brought back into the side to replace Mohammad Nawaz. Bangladesh made two changes as Sunny and Tamim make it in the side to replace Mustfizur and Nurul Hasan. 

The first innings started in a miserable manner for Pakistan as they quick wickets held them back and they were unable to score runs at ease courtesy some brilliant fast bowling from Bangladesh. Malik and Sarfraz played responsibly and gave some stability to the shaken batting lineup. Skipper Afridi yet again failed to deliver as he was dismissed for zero. Pakistan managed to score 129 runs with the loss of 7 wickets. Malik and Sarfraz scored 41 and 58 runs respectively. Al-Amin Hossain took 3 wickets.

Bangladesh made a stable start to the second innings despite losing a few wickets. Pakistan were poor in the fielding as they gave away too many extra runs as a result of miss-fields. However, Amir did raise hope for Pakistan picking up wickets near the end of the match but extras given by Mohammad Sami cost the entire match as Bangladesh surged on to win the match by 5 wickets.

Overs 19.1: FOUR! BANGLADESH WIN BY 5 WICKETS. Full toss from Anwar Ali and Mahmudullah smacks it towards midwicket for a boundary. Bangladesh end at 131 runs at the loss of 5 wickets with 5 balls to spare.

Overs 18.6: 1 run. Mortaza hits it towards midwicket and grabs a single. Ban 127/5

Overs 18.6: NO-BALL and FOUR! Sami has almost ruined it for Pakistan. Bowled it full and wide and Mortaza placed it bat at it and it raced towards square leg boundary for four. Ban 126/5

Overs 17.4: FOUR! Wild stuff from Amir. Way too short and hits Mortaza s glove who wanted to get away from it but it goes for four after hitting it. Ban 112/5 

Overs 17.3: FOUR! Mortaza plays this one straight. Sami dived to cut it but got nothing on it and it raced for four. Ban 108/5

Overs 17.2: OUT! Beautifully bowled by Amir! Shakib s stumps flying across the ground as he goes down on one knee and attempts to scoop this one towards fine leg but misses. Ban 104/5

Overs 15.6: No run. The ball was drifting down the leg and struck the batsman in his pads. Sami appeals but the umpire gives no response. Ban 95/4

Overs 12.5: 1 run. Massive appeal from Afridi as this one struck Rahim in front from the looks of it but the umpire walks away. Afridi cannot believe it. Ban 81/2
