PM directs immediate wheat supply to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through PASSCO

Summary Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the immediate supply of wheat to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through PASSCO to support food security and ease inflationary pressures.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The federal government has decided to provide wheat to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following instructions from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a move aimed at strengthening food security and providing relief to consumers facing rising living costs.

According to official statements, the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of National Food Security and Research to arrange the supply of wheat through the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation.

Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain said the initiative is intended to protect the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from the impact of inflation and ensure the availability of a key food commodity.

The minister stated that instructions have already been issued to ensure the immediate and efficient delivery of wheat through PASSCO, with relevant authorities directed to expedite the process.

He described the Prime Minister’s decision as a practical step towards enhancing food security and delivering public relief, particularly at a time when consumers continue to face economic pressures.

Officials said the wheat supply programme is expected to help stabilise availability in the province and support efforts to maintain affordable access to essential food items.
