Summary The prices of cotton have gone up following the upward trend in the global market.

A slight decrease in the prices was earlier witnessed with the arrival of new yield. However, with an increase in the prices in the New York market, the price of 40kg cotton would close at Rs 8,800, up Rs 200, while unprocessed cotton would be Rs 3,800 per 40kg, up Rs 300. In some markets, old cotton is being sold for Rs 9,000 per 40kg.In the New York market, cotton price went up 10 cents, taking price up $1. 58 per pound. Due to early cultivation and harvest in Sindh, cotton started arriving in the local market a bit early this year.
