SCCI rejects power price hike, demands exemption from taxes

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry aka Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Friday has demand exemption from property, professional taxes and other levies while rejecting hike in electricity and gas prices.

 

President Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Faiz Muhammad said in a press conference, "We would also request the Chief Minister KP, Mehmood Jan to freeze for three years rent of properties owned by Municipal Corporation and Auqaf department."

Former presidents of SCCI Riaz Arshad, Adeel Rauf, Haji Muhammad Afzal, Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi and others also attended the conference.

On the occasion, former President of SCCI Adeel Rauf said "In Punjab the affected traders were properly compensated by the government after launching of mega projects like Metro Bus and Orange train."

President SCCI also demanded of Environment Project Agency (EPA) KP to hold a survey for evaluating level of air pollution in Peshawar caused by BRT. He said clouds of dust engulf the whole city and shopkeepers were bound to sit in polluted environment for earning bread and butter at the cost of their health.
