Summary Increase in duty and production cost have inflated cement prices in local market.
According to a report, the other causes of increase in cement prices include increase in diesel price and packing material cost. The surge in federal excise duty from 1 percent to 2.5 percent has also contributed to inflate the cement prices. The cement prices have surged from Rs 15 to Rs 20 per 50kg bag and the prices have reached up to Rs 350 per bag.
