Despite the fact that the government has taken drastic measures to meet the International Monitory Fund (IMF) conditions, it has not given a final date for the next tranche of a $1.7 billion approved loan.In its fortnightly briefing in Washington, IMF’s External Relations Department Director Caroline Atkinson appreciated the recent steps taken by the government on the economic front, but she stood back to fix a date for the next mission.She said that the recent economic measures adopted by the authorities were necessary for a long term economic stability, and that she was in contact with the Pakistani government. According to the IMF, if the petrol prices stay at the present level for a long time, it will adversely affect the world economy
