Summary Cement sale declined by 9 percent in February 2011.
Export of cement plunged by 25 percent as compared to the same month of the last year. According to All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association, total sale of cement remained 1.78 million tonnes and export recorded at 71,000 tonnes in February. During the first 8 months of the current fiscal year, local sale of cement was declined by 8.49 percent. Volume of exports was decreased by 14.81 percent. According to the association, it has become difficult for cement plants of the Northern Areas to export the commodity due to rising transportation charges.
