WEB DESK (Dunya News) – After being criticized for using a tool known as “Greyball,” the ride hailing service Uber has promised to stop using the controversial practice.

It is worth mentioning here that “Greyball” was used to evade the authorities in business sectors where its service was opposed by law authorization.

The tool utilizes information that it gathered from Uber application and different systems in order to recognize and marking of officials who were attempting to pin down the service.

However, Uber in a recent bid has promised to stop the usage of "Greyball" to evade the law enforcement.

"We have started a review of the different ways this technology has been used to date," Uber’s chief security officer, Joe Sullivan, wrote in a blogpost.

"In addition, we are expressly prohibiting its use to target action by local regulators going forward."
