The Federal Government has banned export of onions to India a few days ago, but now the news of export resumption has caused an unprecedented hike of onion prices in the local markets. According to a survey, the increase in prices of onion is due to short supply and onions price has recorded an increase of Rs 5 per kg to reach at Rs 45 per kg. The prices of cooking oil and gee have also showed an increase of Rs 5 per kg to close at Rs 185 per kg. The price of rice also surged by Rs 10 per kg.However, the prices of vegetables and other food item remained unchanged. The citizens have urged the government to take strict action against hoarders and steps to control prices of daily use items.
