Summary sales tax on the products remained unchanged in 2015-16
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Government earned at least Rs 1,300 billion in last year through sales tax 37 percent of which came from sale of petroleum products, reported Thursday.
Sources privy to the department concerned, Rs 488 billion were earned by the government in past one year through sales tax on petroleum products.
It should be noted here that ten percent fall in petroleum products prices was supposed to negatively affect government’s earnings but sales tax revenue increased by at least 20 percent.
In financial year 2015-16, petrol and diesel prices were lowered but sales tax on the products remained unchanged.
