National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced to increase the power tariff by 26 paisas per unit, however the decision would implement only on the consumers using over 50 units. CPPA authorities apprised a meeting that 30 percent power has been generated by furnace oil while 25 percent from gas in July. He said that the oil generated electricity rate was 9.81 paisas per unit , adding that delay in payment to the IPPs inflicted extra charges of Rs 179 billion, which required an increase in the tariff by 52 paisas per unit to fill the financing gap among the power companies. Chairman Nepra approved the hike in power tariff by 26 paisas per unit.
