Summary Sale of urea fertilizer has decreased by 50% in the country due to flood and likely fall in price.

During September, about 2,42,000 of tons fertilizer was sold.According to the BMA capital report, this sale is about 54% less compared to last year.It is also worth mentioning that the sale of fertilizer during first nine months of current year also remained low by 13%.On the one hand, there was shortage in demand of urea fertilizer due to rains while on the other hand the imported fertilizer in the market also badly affected the locally-produced fertilizer.Apart from this, there was a deadlock on the part of farmers who were expecting the availability of fertilizer on low price by Rs 200 per bag as compared to status quo.During current year, the collective demand of urea would remain by 53,00,000 with cut of 10% while the sale of locally-produced fertilizer would be approximately 48,00,000 tons.So far as the purchase of DAP fertilizer in September is concerned, it has risen to 2,22,000 tons with the increase of 80%; however, the performance of DAP during nine months is not satisfactory and graceful.According to experts, companies are confronted with shortage of gas which is badly affecting their production.
