BEIRUT (Web Desk) - An Israeli military officer was killed and three soldiers were injured after an Israeli military vehicle overturned in southern Lebanon, prompting an investigation by the Israeli military.

According to foreign media, the Israeli military reported on October 8 that the incident occurred during military operations in southern Lebanon.

The deceased officer was identified as 21-year-old Captain Eliav Haim Tzapalamos, who was from Haifa.

He served in the 603rd Combat Engineering Battalion of the Israeli army’s 7th Brigade.

An Israeli military spokesperson said the injured soldiers had been taken to hospital for treatment and that the officer’s family had been notified of his death.

The military launched an investigation to determine the circumstances and cause of the vehicle rollover.

The incident occurred amid continued Israeli military presence and heightened tensions in southern Lebanon following a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.

A US-brokered agreement between Israel and Lebanon in June 2026 outlined a framework for disarming Hezbollah, the phased withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon and the deployment of the Lebanese army in the area.

According to Lebanese authorities, thousands of people had been killed in Israeli airstrikes and ground operations in Lebanon since March 2026.
