The foreign ministry says the country remains committed to playing an active role in international efforts to foster peace
BAKU (Web Desk) - Azerbaijan on Wednesday announced that it has accepted an invitation from US President Donald Trump to join the international “Board of Peace,” an initiative aimed at promoting global cooperation, peace and stability.
In a statement, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry said the country remains committed to playing an active role in international efforts to foster peace and stability.
“Azerbaijan, as always, is ready to actively contribute to international cooperation, peace, and stability,” the ministry said.
Azerbaijan’s decision comes months after it reached a US-brokered peace agreement with Armenia in August last year, ending nearly four decades of conflict over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region.
The agreement followed talks hosted by President Trump at the White House.
Meanwhile, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also joined the Board of Peace, according to his spokesperson, further signalling regional engagement with the initiative.
The ‘Board of Peace’ has been gaining broader international support, with Pakistan and Turkiye also confirming their participation.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office said Islamabad’s involvement is aligned with the Gaza peace framework under United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.
According to the spokesperson, Pakistan hopes the platform will contribute to achieving a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, increasing humanitarian assistance, and supporting post-conflict reconstruction.
Turkiye has likewise agreed to join the initiative, with the Turkish Foreign Ministry confirming that Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will formally sign the ‘Board of Peace’ agreement on January 22 in Switzerland, marking Ankara’s official commitment.
The growing list of participating countries reflects increasing diplomatic engagement with the US-led initiative, which seeks to address ongoing conflicts and promote long-term peace through international cooperation.
