Pakistan announces date for 5G spectrum auction

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced that the auction for 5G spectrum will be held on March 10.
PTA Chairman Hafeez ur Rehman said that the dream of a Digital Pakistan cannot be achieved without improved connectivity, expressing confidence that internet-related issues will improve following the 5G auction.
He noted that 5G-enabled mobile phones are available in the market for as low as Rs40,000, adding that companies are also introducing installment plans to make smartphones more affordable for consumers.
Meanwhile, Director General Licensing Aamir Shehzad said that 101 countries around the world have already launched 5G services. He confirmed that Pakistan’s 5G spectrum auction is scheduled for March 10.
He also highlighted that load shedding in rural areas affects connectivity, expressing hope that the introduction of new spectrum will significantly improve service quality across the country.
