LAHORE (APP) - Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam has said that a cricketer should play three-format cricket as the three formats complement one another.

Speaking at the post PSL 11 final press conference at the Gaddafi stadium here on Monday night, he said that test cricket teaches patience and play long innings to the batters, adding that the red-ball cricket helps cricketers fashioning their white-ball cricket.

On inspiration behind regaining form after slump, Babar Azam said the former batting great Zaheer Abbas gave him confidence and reminded that the slump in form is temporary and he should keep working hard. “all player face slump in form but the batter should focus on training and maintain right mind-set”, he added.

Babar Azam dedicated his return to form to the confidence given to him by his family, close friends and the coaches he worked with, adding that he was happy to lift the trophy for the Peshawar Zalmi.

On his coaching staff, the Zalmi captain the Head Coach Ottis Gibson, without burdening him with too much advice, asked him to play his natural game and play his cricket as he knows his game and the conditions better than others.

On lifting first trophy as captain, Babar Azam said he was happy to have win one trophy at least, adding that Aaron Hardie and Abdul Samad played with sane heads to ensure that Peshawar Zalmi. He said the team needed a partnership after losing four wickets and they did the same.

On the test series against Bangladesh soon after PSL 11, Babar Azam said that he was accustomed to playing back-to-back series as the team played during the COVID 19, adding that a cricketer will require to see the condition and perform.

Babar Azam hailed Head Coach Ottis Gibson and Misbah-ul-Haq for working hard with the cricketers and getting the maximum out of them. He said the coached put in their hard work as they have to work with 25 cricketers from different parts of the world and get the best out of them.

Babar Azam thanked Zalmi fans for their support and prayers, adding that he will visit Peshawar with the trophy to celebrate with the fan-base in Peshawar.
