Summary Security forces killed 37 terrorists in ground and air operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Afghanistan border region, according to the Ministry of Information.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Security forces have killed 37 terrorists in large-scale ground and air operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and areas along the Afghanistan border, according to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
According to the ministry, intelligence-based ground operations were conducted in Kohat, Hangu and Thall. Nine terrorists were killed during operations in Kohat and Hangu on September 20.
Security forces also targeted terrorist hideouts in the border region adjoining Afghanistan. Three hideouts belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij and affiliated terrorist groups were destroyed during the operation.
The Ministry of Information said a training centre for suicide bombers was also destroyed. A total of 28 terrorists, including several suicide bombers, were killed in the operation, while weapons and ammunition stored at the hideouts were also destroyed.
Security forces kill four terrorists in Balochistan operations
The ministry said the threat of terrorism facing Pakistan was originating from Afghanistan and stressed that the protection and security of citizens remained the country’s top priority.
According to the statement, maximum precautions were taken during the operations to avoid civilian casualties and property damage, while terrorist centres were targeted with precision.
The ministry said the counterterrorism campaign under the Azm-e-Istehkam initiative would continue with full force and vowed to eliminate foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
The operations came amid heightened security activity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following recent attacks in Kohat and Hangu. In a separate operation in Hangu, the military said eight terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire, while six security personnel were martyred.
The Ministry of Information has also said that Pakistan’s recent airstrikes in the border region targeted terrorist camps and hideouts linked to recent attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
