ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Several government schools in Islamabad will remain closed tomorrow amid expected protests and heightened security concerns, while authorities have intensified arrangements across the federal capital.
According to sources, school administrations have informed parents about the holiday. Police personnel will be accommodated at schools in Sector G-7 and Sitara Market, while a government school in Sector F-7/3 has also been declared closed.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad administration has stepped up preparations to deal with possible protest marches and sit-ins in the capital. The Red Zone has been completely sealed, while authorities have decided to dig trenches on major roads to prevent protesters arriving from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from entering the city.
Preparations are also underway to build barriers on various roads across Islamabad. Empty containers are being filled with bags of soil for use as makeshift barriers, with workers speeding up the process.
Dunya News has previously reported that authorities decided to seal the extended Red Zone ahead of the long march, with all five routes leading towards the area to be closed and two layers of containers placed along each route. A heavy police contingent has also been deployed.
The latest security preparations come as authorities brace for possible political protests and the September 27 PTI march towards Islamabad. Security personnel and police from outside districts are also being brought in for law-and-order duties.
