LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has reaffirmed unwavering solidarity with the people of Kashmir on Youm-e-Istehsal, saying the events of August 5, 2019, were an attack on the identity, rights and future of Kashmiris that Pakistan would never accept.

In her message, the chief minister paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for freedom and saluted their families for their patience and resilience. She said the people of Pakistan stand shoulder to shoulder with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their long struggle for the right to self-determination and will continue extending political, diplomatic and moral support.

Maryam Nawaz called on the United Nations, international human rights organizations and the global community to take immediate notice of the alleged serious human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and play an effective role in ensuring the people of the region are granted their fundamental rights.

The Punjab chief minister said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had always maintained a clear and principled stance on the Kashmir issue, adding that Pakistan would continue to support the legitimate right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people in line with its national position.

She reiterated that the people of Pakistan stand with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters and will continue to support their just struggle at every level.
