Summary AJK Inspector General of Police Liaquat Ali Malik rejected talks with anti-state violent elements, saying those involved in killing police personnel and attacking civilians would face the law

MUZAFFARABAD (Dunya News) –  Azad Jammu and Kashmir Inspector General of Police Liaquat Ali Malik has ruled out any negotiations with anti-state violent elements, saying there can be no leniency for those involved in killing police personnel and desecrating their bodies.

Rejecting demands for talks with anti-state elements, the police chief said it was unimaginable for anyone to sit across the table from those responsible for killing fellow officers. He maintained that it is not the police's role to pursue political solutions, adding that such matters are the responsibility of political leaders.

Malik said violent elements had issued threats to behead security personnel and target law enforcement officials, while also carrying out attacks against ordinary citizens.

He said there was no room for any political settlement with those responsible for such acts, citing an incident in which a civilian travelling to attend his mother's funeral was allegedly abducted and had his legs broken. The IGP vowed that the state would deal with those attacking innocent civilians with full force.
