Summary Islamabad court maintains non-bailable warrants against KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in PECA case over alleged statements against institutions.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – A court in Islamabad has ordered the arrest and production of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi after he failed to appear in a case related to alleged misleading statements against state institutions.
The hearing was held at the District and Sessions Courts, where the case registered against Chief Minister Sohail Afridi was taken up.
During the proceedings, Senior Civil Judge Abbas Shah maintained the non-bailable arrest warrants issued against the chief minister due to his absence and directed authorities to arrest him and present him before the court.
The court adjourned further hearing of the case until July.
It is pertinent to mention that the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has registered a case against Sohail Afridi under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) over alleged statements affecting the reputation of state institutions.
