LAHORE (Dunya News) - A new cloud system accompanied by westerly winds has entered Pakistan, increasing the likelihood of rainfall in Lahore and several districts of Punjab over the coming days.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, weather conditions in Lahore and most parts of central Punjab are expected to remain cloudy today. Dusty winds and light rainfall are also likely in some areas.

The Met Office said the rain-bearing system could continue affecting Lahore and various districts of Punjab until June 3, with intermittent rainfall expected during this period.

In view of the forecast, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert and directed district administrations to remain prepared for any emergency situation arising from the expected weather conditions.

Authorities have also instructed the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) and other relevant departments to ensure all necessary arrangements are in place to address possible urban flooding and drainage issues.

Meanwhile, WASA Lahore Managing Director Ghufran Ahmed has directed operational staff to remain active in the field and ensure effective drainage arrangements in anticipation of rainfall.

Officials have advised citizens to take precautionary measures, remain updated on weather conditions and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of adverse weather.

The expected spell of rain is likely to bring temporary relief from prevailing weather conditions in several parts of the province while authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
