GILGIT (Dunya News) - The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) on Tuesday issued an important circular regarding the code of conduct for the election campaign for the upcoming general elections.

According to the circular, wall chalking and graffiti on public property have been completely banned during the 2026 general elections in Gilgit-Baltistan. Chief Election Commissioner Raja Shahbaz Khan has directed that the election campaign be made environmentally friendly.

The Election Commission expressed serious concern over wall chalking by political parties and candidates, stating that it damages the beauty of public property and harms the environment.

The Commission has declared any kind of writing or graffiti on roads, bridges, and government buildings strictly prohibited, and warned of strict action in case of violations of the code of conduct during the election campaign.

The circular also clarifies that district monitoring officers have been instructed to strictly enforce the ban, and legal action will be taken against violators under the Election Act 2017. Candidates have been advised to adopt legal and environmentally friendly methods for their election campaigns.
