Nawaz Sharif meets British High Commissioner, discusses regional situation

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif held a meeting with British High Commissioner Jane Marriott to discuss matters of mutual interest and the regional situation.

During the meeting, High Commissioner Marriott praised Nawaz Sharif for his invaluable contributions to Pakistan. She also commended the ongoing development projects being led by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

According to sources, the discussions covered multiple areas of shared interest, with special emphasis on bilateral ties and future avenues for cooperation. Key sectors highlighted during the talks included education, healthcare, and climate change—areas seen as vital for long-term development and public well-being. Both sides explored ways to broaden collaboration and develop new institutional partnerships.

Sources said the meeting reinforced a shared resolve to deepen Pakistan–UK relations. Nawaz Sharif stressed that closer ties between the two countries are increasingly important in the context of changing regional and global dynamics. Maryam Nawaz Sharif also underscored the necessity of strengthening engagement with the UK, particularly in trade and investment, describing cross-sector cooperation as essential for sustainable economic growth and stability.
