KARACHI (Dunya News) - Following the Gul Plaza tragedy, the Deputy Commissioner South has sealed six under-construction buildings in various areas of Karachi on Wednesday.

DC South Javed Nabi Khoso said that the sealed buildings did not have firefighting equipment installed, and no safe emergency exit gates had been constructed inside the buildings.

Javed Nabi Khoso stated that construction work on a total of 48 under-construction buildings in District South has been halted. He said that inspections of under-construction buildings will be carried out in the first phase.

The DC South further said that data on old buildings lacking fire safety measures is also being collected, saying that strict action will be taken against buildings without fire safety systems.

He added that all assistant commissioners have been instructed to speed up enforcement actions.
