PPP Senator Palwasha Khan slams 'fake ordinance'
Pakistan
She said the PPP would advise the government to come to its senses
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and Senator Palwasha Khan has said that while people had heard of fake medicines and fake degrees, “fake ordinances” have now also started to surface, alleging that a fake ordinance was issued through a covert move involving President Asif Ali Zardari.
Addressing a press conference at the Peoples Secretariat alongside senior PPP leader Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed, Senator Palwasha Khan said an ordinance was issued a day earlier without the President’s signature. She claimed that President Zardari was misled and kept unaware, yet the ordinance was issued in his name. The government, she added, later termed it a “mistake.”
She said the PPP would advise the government to “come to its senses,” adding that Pakistan cannot afford such blunders. Those responsible for such mistakes, she stressed, should be removed from within the ranks, and the “factory of fake ordinances” must be shut down. Although the government admitted its mistake and withdrew the ordinance, she warned that such errors would harm the ruling coalition.
Palwasha Khan further said that the PPP would not allow the privatization of the National Shipping Corporation, questioning who was advising the government. She reiterated that the PPP has a clear stance on privatization and would continue to raise its voice and present facts before the nation.
Commenting on recent political gatherings, she said Bagh-e-Jinnah is a very large park and difficult for PTI to fill, which is why the party held its rally on the road instead.
On the occasion, Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed said that the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) amounted to robbing the public. He claimed that PIA’s Blue Area office was valued at only Rs200 million, which, he said, reflected the flawed process. He added that PIA was sold for Rs135 billion while its properties alone were worth around Rs200 billion, vowing that such actions would not be allowed.
He further said that Senator Palwasha Khan, who is also a member of the privatization committee, had requested certain documents regarding PIA’s privatization but was not provided with them. He added that while the PPP stands with the government in Parliament, it does not support every government decision.
