ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Islamabad High Court has banned the use of the phrase “Christians only” in advertisements for sanitation worker vacancies.

Justice Inaam Ameen Minhas issued the ruling, directing that the term “citizen” be used instead of specifying any religion.

The court observed that leaving sewerage workers in toxic and life-threatening conditions without proper safety arrangements amounts to gross negligence. It stated that sewerage workers are not mechanical parts and must be provided with full protective gear and necessary facilities.

Expressing concern over the rising number of deaths among sewerage workers, the court issued instructions for comprehensive safety measures across the country. All relevant departments have been directed to submit detailed compliance reports to the Deputy Registrar (Judicial) within two months.
