ISPR chief to address security situation amid rising terror threats and increasing tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry will address a press conference at 3pm today (Friday), where he is expected to brief the media on key security issues, including the recent surge in terrorist incidents.
The presser follows the federal government’s appointment of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as Pakistan’s first Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) a day earlier.
According to reports, the military spokesperson will also highlight ongoing counterterrorism operations, the security situation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, and other related matters.
Last week, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif said that Afghan Taliban conducted unprovoked firing at Pakistani border posts to facilitate terrorist infiltration. He pointed out the complex tribal composition along the Pak-Afghan border, noting that 29 tribes live divided across both sides, making border management challenging.
Earlier, Pakistan partially reopened the Torkham and Chaman crossings solely to allow United Nations humanitarian aid into Afghanistan. The aid includes food, medicines, and school supplies for Afghan children. Officials clarified that the crossings remain closed for trade and general movement, calling the reopening “conditional.”
