LAHORE (Dunya News) – Three Pakistani nationals released from Indian prisons have safely returned home via the Wagah border, where they were garlanded and warmly welcomed.

The released individuals are Asghar Ali, Ramzan, and Muhammad Idrees. Sources said the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi played a key role in securing their release.
Muhammad Idrees, also known as Iqbal, was arrested in 1995 on drug smuggling charges and was freed after 30 years in prison.

Ramzan was arrested in 2010 for similar charges and spent 15 years behind bars. Asghar Ali was detained for illegal entry into India and has now also been released.

The Pakistan High Commission stated that it will continue efforts to secure the release and safe return of all Pakistani prisoners held in Indian jails. It is reported that hundreds of Pakistanis remain in Indian prisons, some of whom have completed their sentences but have yet to be released.
