Summary DIG Operations Faisal Kamran visited the police station late at night and ordered the suspension of the SHO and the entire station staff
LAHORE (Dunya News) - The entire staff of the Ghazi Abad police station in Lahore, including the Station House Officer (SHO), has been suspended following the alleged sexual assault of a mentally disabled girl by an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) posted at the station.
DIG Operations Faisal Kamran visited the police station late at night and ordered the suspension of the SHO and the entire station staff, citing delays in taking action against the accused and keeping senior officers uninformed about the case.
SHO Ghazi Abad, Shahryar, was suspended and replaced with Ali Zaib Dastgir as the new SHO.
According to details, the DIG Operations suspended 78 personnel in total, including sub-inspectors, eight ASIs and five head constables. Front desk staff, the station munshi (record-keeper), and drivers were also among those suspended.
An FIR has been registered regarding the suspension of the SHO and other personnel at Ghazi Abad police station.
The action follows an incident two days earlier in which ASI Imran, attached to the investigation wing, allegedly sexually assaulted a mentally disabled girl. Police subsequently registered a case against the ASI and arrested him.
