(Web Desk) – Australian bowler Mitchell Starc has surpassed Pakistani legend Wasim Akram’s long-held record for the most Test wickets by a left-arm fast bowler.

Akram took 414 wickets in 104 Test matches, a benchmark that stood for years.

Starc moved ahead by taking his 415th Test wicket during the second Ashes Test against England at the Gabba, dismissing Harry Brook in the first innings.

It was his third wicket of the match. Before this Test, Starc had 412 wickets in 101 matches since making his debut in 2011.

In the list of top left-arm fast bowlers in Test cricket, Sri Lanka’s Chaminda Vaas is third with 355 wickets, New Zealand’s Trent Boult is fourth with 317, and Australia’s Mitchell Johnson is fifth with 313.
