Summary Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik says Pakistan provided greater fuel price relief than global declines and is considering importing cheaper oil and gas from Iran.

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has said the government provided the public with relief that exceeded last week's reduction in petroleum prices.

Speaking to the media in Lahore, Malik said the first ten days of Muharram had passed peacefully, praising the Pakistan Army, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for maintaining law and order.

He said peace had returned to the region following the end of the Iran-US conflict, which led to a decline in global petroleum prices.

The minister added that the government remained proactive in passing on the benefit of lower international oil prices to consumers. He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ensured that the relief was transferred to the public without delay, claiming that Pakistan had provided greater relief than the reduction seen in global markets.

Malik also accused some elements of misleading the public over petroleum prices. He said Pakistan would continue to honour its international agreements while also considering the option of importing cheaper oil and gas from Iran.
