Summary Electricity supply improves in Pakistan during peak hours as generation rises to 5125MW, with load management limited to high-loss areas amid grid stability and LNG shortage impact

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Electricity supply in the country has shown improvement during peak hours due to an increase in power generation, with load management now limited to high-loss areas.

According to the spokesperson of the Power Division, increased water release from dams in line with provincial demand led to the generation of 5,125 megawatts of electricity during peak hours. Due to grid stability, 400 megawatts of electricity continued to be transmitted from the southern to central regions of the country.

Distribution companies managed electricity supply more effectively last night, resulting in load management of around one to two hours despite increased demand during peak time.

The spokesperson said that economic load management will continue in high-loss feeders as per policy, and it is not linked to peak-time load management.

He further stated that availability of LNG would help eliminate peak-time load management, while due to its shortage, power plants with a capacity of 5,500 megawatts are not generating electricity.
