The government has approved the installation of 7,390 TBS units nationwide to detect gas theft and leakages.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The government has drawn up a comprehensive plan to crack down on gas theft, deciding to install 7,390 Theft and Balance System (TBS) units across the country.
According to official sources, the TBS system will help identify points where gas is being stolen or where leakages are occurring. Each TBS unit will be capable of monitoring gas flow over a distance of 10,000 to 15,000 meters, allowing authorities to keep a close eye on the distribution network.
Under the plan, 6,600 TBS units will be installed on the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) network, while 790 units will be placed on the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) system.
Officials said the move is aimed at plugging the leaks in the gas supply system and putting a lid on losses caused by theft. They added that the initiative is expected to improve efficiency, ensure fair distribution, and ease pressure on the national gas supply.
