LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab government on Friday said that flour supply across the province remains ample and the market is fully stable, dismissing concerns about any shortage or crisis.

According to official sources, the government’s controlled release policy has helped keep flour prices in check. Flour mills across Punjab have carried out record wheat grinding of 32,365 metric tons, ensuring smooth supply in the market.

Sources said that 16,000 metric tons of wheat are being released to flour mills at controlled rates, while around two million flour bags were supplied across Punjab on January 9 alone. They added that daily supply is higher than usual, leaving no room for shortages.

Officials said more than 984,000 bags of 10kg and 20kg flour are being supplied to markets. The official price of a 10kg flour bag has been fixed at Rs905, while a 20kg bag is being sold at Rs1,810, and authorities are leaving no stone unturned to ensure these rates are followed.

Government sources said field teams are carrying out continuous inspections, with zero compromise on rate compliance. Price control magistrates have been directed to take swift and strict action against overpricing.

The provincial government has also adopted a zero-tolerance policy against hoarding, profiteering, and rumours. With Ramadan around the corner, the supply chain has been further strengthened, and full preparations have been made to increase wheat grinding and distribution in line with rising demand during the holy month.

Sources said citizens will continue to get uninterrupted flour supplies at official rates, adding that all administrative and field resources have been fully mobilised to keep the system running smoothly.
