3 Afghans dead on third day of Quran burning protests

At least three people were killed Thursday when gunfire broke out during the third consecutive day of protests in Afghanistan against the burning of Korans at a US military base, officials said.Two protesters were killed and seven wounded by gunshots in Deh Rawood district of southeastern province Uruzgan, said provincial government spokesman Sayed Marouf Hamdarad.In the west of the country, another Afghan demonstrator was killed and seven others wounded when protesters attacked a US coalition base in Khogyani district of Baghlan province, district governor Haji Mohammad Hassan said.The Quran burnings at a U.S. base in Kabul has roiled Afghans. On Wednesday, clashes between Afghan troops and protesters in four eastern provinces killed at least seven people and wounded dozens.
