DUBAI (Dunya News) - The Dubai government has announced measures to strengthen its media monitoring system and introduce a new framework for issuing temporary media permits to curb the spread of misinformation and unverified digital content.

According to reports, the development emerged after a review of the unified government communication strategy in light of recent regional developments, aimed at maintaining public trust and ensuring a more organised flow of information.

The General Network of Government Communication held a meeting at Emirates Towers, where media regulations, crisis communication and coordination among government entities were reviewed.

Rashid Al Marri, CEO of the Media Regulatory Office at the Dubai Media Council, said frameworks and guidelines were being enhanced to maintain professional standards and prevent misinformation.

He added that the new temporary permit system would help local and international media operate in a more structured and regulated environment.

The review identified 24-hour media monitoring, rapid response to misinformation and unified multilingual communication as key strategies.

According to the report, Dubai Media Council, Government of Dubai Media Office, Dubai Press Club, Brand Dubai and Dubai Media Incorporated are working in coordination to promote transparent, swift and responsible communication.

No specific details regarding heavy fines or penalties were disclosed, but the focus remains on stricter monitoring, regulation and an organised permit system.

Officials stressed the importance of transparency, professional responsibility and timely official communication to ensure a reliable information environment in the emirate.
