A drone strike hit the US Consulate in Dubai, causing a fire but no casualties. Missiles were also fired at Qatar as US officials confirmed rising attacks across the region
DUBAI (Web Desk) - A drone attack targeted the US Consulate in Dubai, setting part of the consulate building on fire.
According to a foreign news agency, emergency response teams managed to bring the blaze under control in a timely manner.
The sound of the explosion was reportedly heard several kilometers away.
The Dubai government confirmed that no casualties were reported in the incident and stated that the situation is completely under control.
The UAE Ministry of Defence said it has faced more than 1,000 attacks from Iran so far and added that no decision has been made to change its defensive strategy.
Meanwhile, an American newspaper claimed that a drone attack was carried out on Monday at a CIA station in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
In a separate development, Qatar’s Ministry of Defence stated that Iran fired two missiles toward Qatar.
One of the missiles targeted the US-operated Al Udeid Air Base. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the attack.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the drone strike in Dubai hit a parking area adjacent to the US Consulate, adding that American diplomatic offices are directly under attack.
He further stated that since the start of the war, 9,000 Americans have left the Middle East, while 1,600 US citizens have requested assistance to evacuate from the region.
At the United Nations, Israeli Ambassador Danny Danon claimed that Israel and the United States have gained near-complete control over Iranian airspace.
